DESCRIPTION
The apartment is situated in Newington in
the heart of Edinburgh, about a mile from the famous main shopping
area of Princes Street. Newington itself is well served by shops
and restaurants, and there are regular buses to Princes Street.
Edinburgh Castle can just be seen from the penthouse patio. The
apartment is part of a modern development on the edge of Holyrood
Park, across the road from Edinburgh University's Pollock Halls
of Residence and only a hundred metres from the Royal Commonwealth
swimming pool. Most of the apartment blocks in the development were
newly built from modern materials, but the penthouse is on the roof
of an historic bonded warehouse that has been given a modern brick
facade. The solid building underneath provides terrific insulation,
and the apartment maintains an excellent even temperature throughout
the year.
The penthouse is four floors up from street
level, and has a small rooftop patio. The apartment building is
right against the edge of the Royal Park, and from the patio side
of the apartment there is a magnificent uninterrupted view of Arthur's
Seat and Salisbury Craigs rising only a few hundred metres away.
The apartment block is about 17 years old, and has adequate but
limited parking for residents. There is a lift for easy access,
and for security there is an entryphone system installed.
